Welcome to the webpage of our Grand Lodge.
We are a truly international Grand Lodge and every one of our seventeen Lodges has Brethren hailing from outside the U.K.
There is no doubt in my mind that the success of all our Lodges in the future will depend on building on this cosmopolitan foundation. Since the advent of speculative Freemasonry one of its greatest achievements has been to bring together Brethren of every nationality – irrespective of their religious, political or social orientation – to the benefit and enjoyment of all.
Freemasonry has always adapted, sometimes with extreme caution, to the society in which it exists. We, as The Grand Lodge of British Freemasons in Germany, also need to adapt to our changing environment. Perhaps in particular in the way we present ourselves to the public at large.
At the same time we must be careful to maintain our unique identity – passed on to us by our founding Brethren. Our traditions give us a measure of stability in the midst of a rapidly changing World, the relevance of Masonic values such as tolerance is probably greater today than at any time in history. We strive to become better people and make the world we live in a better place to be.
