Dear Brethren, now that our Forum is opened I hope that the messages on this Guest Book will not dwindle away-we really need to keep the Guest Book alive as it is this which others see. If there's nothing much on it, well it reflects on our Grand Lodge in a negative way, so get your fingewrs on the keyboard and give W Bro Wolfram plenty of work.Best fraternal and personal regardsVW Bro John Kellas PJGW

Just a line to thank very many Brethren for their support in my recent appeal for 'Pens for Cambodian Children'. Up to now I've received well over 1000 and I hope to be able to send them to Cambodia via the good auspices of the British Consulate within the next few days. I am quite confident that they will be put to excellent use by the children who, because of necessity, live in atrocious circumstances. Dear Brethren and other visitors to our web-site I need some help.
A gentleman from Düsseldorf contacted me recently to tell me that a old small drinking glass was in his possession and from his limited Masonic knowledge it appeared to connected to the Craft – could we help in supplying him with any information on its use, history and most importantly where it comes from. I have listed below all the information I have on the glass:-
• About 9,2 cm high
• Has a stem like a normal wine glass, but stockier
• Around the drinking part of the glass are several engravings. At the top and stretching all around are the words ”WILLIAM KEMP”,
• Immediately below the centre of those words are various WTs and at the back of the glass a tree (not a bush) with the number 1836 underneath it.
• On the left of the tree is a rose and the right a thistle
I have searched lists of Scottish and Irish Constitution Lodges and have not found a Lodge with such a number or name nor a Lodge founded on that date or any other date with a gap of +/- 50, 100 etc. of it.
I would be pleased to hear from anybody out there that has any information on the above glass or knows somewhere else I can look.

As the almoner of Lodge Niederrhein No 892 GC in Düsseldorf I would like to convey this message to all members of the Lodge reminding them of my availability during the summer break. If you have any problems or know of a Brother or his family in difficulty please contact me. Enjoy and relax brethren as I trust all brethren within our wonderful Grand Lodge will do so during the summer recess. Then brethren return refreshed and work with increased vigour with the Worshipful Master and the Grand Master of this special Grand Lodge of British Freemasons in Germany, Most Worshipful Brother Michael Cooper. We should all remember that we belong to a unique world-wide organisation which crosses the barriers of language, colour, race nationality and religion in a world that has often lost sight of truth, and appears to be looking only for personal advantage. Let us ensure that we continue to support the Grand Master, his Deputy and Wardens who in my humble opinion strive to provide the harmony and well being of us all.David Stevens Lodge Niederrhein 892 GC Düsseldorf

Dear Brethren all,
Please remember that the Installation Meeting of Beaver Lodge takes place on the 1st of October 2005 at 12 noon at the Logenhaus in Soest. This historic building was where the lodge was consecrated in 1963 and we left it in 1982, only to return last November to our "spiritual home". The building itself is an historic listed building and is well over 200 years old. You will be impressed when you visit, which the Master Elect WBro Michael Neary and brethren of Beaver hope very much that you will, and there will be refreshments available free of charge from 10.00 am. Making a weekend of it in and around Soest is no mistake either, the stadt is a medievel city nearly 900 years old and the Mohnedam (of Dambusters fame) is only 10 kms away.
For more information of any kind please contact me! Have a great summer.

Special thanks to those of you who "stood in" for the ceremony, and of course to the GDC who ran the show in his usual relaxed but confident manner. We had a great day, the GM and the DGM had brought some good weather with them, the food was good, and the company was as excellent as it could masonically be! Thank you all !.....Trevor

Thank you all. Thanks too to Rebus for the 40 year lapel badge which did arrive eventually albeit too late for the Installation. Dear Brethren,
here's hoping this subject may provoke some correspondence.
How many of you believe that our Quick Fire after toasts should only be given in certain circumstances? For example, if the recipient of the toast is a Mason or not?
Well I believe that Freemasons at a Masonic function, which the Festive Board most certainly is, if they are giving toasts, these can only be Masonic Toasts and therefore every toast at the FB should be followed by 'Fire'.
In my opinion it is the givers of the toast, in our case Freemasons, who determine by virtue of the fact that they are Freemasons that the toast is Masonic, and it is of no consequence who the recipient is!!
After all, if you bowl a cricket ball at a football goal, it doesn't become a football, does it?
So that's my little contribution to try and get an exchange of views going on this subject. I will be very interested to hear from any or all of you out there!!
Sincere fraternal regards
John Kellas

So that's my little contribution to try and get an exchange of views going on this subject. I will be very interested to hear from any or all of you out there!!
Sincere fraternal regards

Brethren, We should all take heed of the words "daily advancement in Masonic knowledge". Of course this means learning the ritual but also how to keep hold of teddy and giving others the benefit of the doubt. All too often heated discussions and nasty situations can be avoided by keeping a tighter grip on teddy's leg or ear. We need to talk to each other more often, not just at lodge meetings. We need to help those amongst us who can't see this. Let us all hope, that going into a new year we can make things better. I wish all my brethren in our Grand Lodge a very peaceful festive period and less injuries to our faithful teddies!

Sunderland Lodge No 4114 (Province of Durham)
Fraternal greetings and every best wish to all members of The Grand Lodge of British Freemasons in Germany. I was casually browsing the net and again visited your website, may I take this opportunity to inform who are interested that having changed my ISP my new e-mail address should now read charles@charles162.wanadoo.co.uk
My Mother Lodge is Sunderland Lodge No 4114 of which I have occupied the chair twice, I am also a member of Sportsmans Lodge No 9440, currently the 1st General in Ravensworth Chapter Rose Croix No 183 and to stop myself from becoming bored I am currently the M.E.Z. in Ashburne Royal Arch Chapter No 4348. In my mother lodge at Sunderland we went through a difficult period mainly through the passing to the Grand Lodge above of some of the older Brethren about six years ago and our membership numbers declined to a figure of 17. We were quietly advised by no less than an Assistant Provincial Grand Master to consider the awful prospect of handing in our warrant. As two of our members were country members living in other parts of the UK leaving us with 11 active members. It was a matter we had to consider, However Im glad to say we rejected that idea, we started to rebuild the Lodge and Im happy to say that when we went into summer recess this year our membership numbers had increased to 45. But we must always remember large numbers do not always make a happy lodge. We were fortunate to have a Secretary who created a lodge website on the Internet, An ex Sgt from the Royal Military Police, now working as a Probation Officer in Co Durham was on holiday in Spain, he went into an Internet Cafe to check his e-mails, started browsing the net and found Sunderland Lodge. This led to him contacting our Secretary requesting an application form. To cut a long story short this man is now senior deacon within the Lodge, and being in his middle to late thirties has now started to introduce his friends of a simular age to the Fraternity.
I have a great love of Freemasonry plus having a tolorent and supportive wife, whenever I can I like to visit other Lodges, I was disappointed in not being able to vist Saxony Lodge No 842 when in the Celle area in June this year, but I hope to be able to further my masonic contacts with a visit to Hong Kong, Singapore and the Island of Penang next year. I hope this message is not too long but I noticed that many members visit your website but not everyone leaves a message. I will continue looking at your website and look forward to being able to visit a lodge hopefully during my next visit to Germany. In the mean time I send my best wishes to all the Brethren of all the Lodges in The Grand Lodge of British Freemasons in Germany. Charles Russell PPrGSwdB.

To the brethren of the Grand Lodge of British Freemasons in Germany, As I communicated in an entry in your guest book on the 12th January this year. Both my wife and I had a few short days in the Celle area between the 15th and 21st June this year, I was fortunate enough to locate Magnus Str where I found the Masonic Hall. It being afternoon the only persons present were the Steward and his family. I rang the bell to speak to the son of this steward, between his limited english and my limited deutch, we were introduced to his Father who was working in the Lodge grounds, He was kind enough to allow me to look around the interior of the lodge temple, I was most impressed with the layout of this very fine building. It was most unfortunate to miss out on a visit to Saxony Lodge No 842 who were meeting on 25th June after I had returned to UK. Could I respecfully ask that the Worshipful Master WBro Braun, on my behalf, thank the Steward, his Wife and Family of Logenhaus, Magnusstrasse 2a Celle. for their kindness in allowing my Wife and I access to the lodge Hall in Celle last Friday. I hope its not long before we again visit the beautiful City of Celle. Fraternal greetings and every best wish. WBro Charles Russell PPrGSwdB.

Dear Brethren,
We must not forget the next most important date for our diaries, that of the 8th of May in Bad Iburg. Our Grand Lodge Annual Communication takes place then and for many weeks already our Board of Grand Stewards has been hard at work with the organisation of the event. It is a hard job but made much easier by your co-operation. If you have still not yet booked in for either the Festive Board or the Gala Dinner then please do so. Your Lodge Secretary has had the relevant forms for weeks now so please, help out these hard working brethren by letting them have your details soonest.
Looking forward to seeing you all on this most auspicious occasion.

It seems that a Lodge in New York City for some reason couldn't meet in its temple and for several months, met in a meeting room of the Hotel Taft. One evening as they gathered in their aprons and regalia, they were observed by a man in the hotel lobby as they proceeded to the meeting room. Curious, he asked the bell captain what it was all about "Oh, that's the Masons," the bell captain explained. Masons," the man mused, "that's the outfit that's so hard to get into, isn't it?" "You'd better believe it," the bell captain replied, "See that guy over there with the sword? He's been knocking on the door for nine long months and they haven't let him in yet." yet another so-called Masonic joke. live n laugh

I was most surprised to find a selection of so-called "Masonic" jokes on your otherwise excellent website. In our constitution as I am sure in most, this would be frowned upon, to say the very least.
Fraternal greetings from England. Brian Malcolm

May I wish all the brethren of The Grand Lodge of British Freemasons in Germany a Happy New Year and fraternal greetings from a Brother in Co. Durham England. In June this year my wife and I will be visiting Germany to attend the British Military Cemetery Nr Ahlem, Hannover to visit my daughters grave (She would have been 40rys old this year) We will be staying in the Celle area between 15th-21st June. I am afraid a visit to the Saxony Lodge in Celle will not be possible as their meeting takes place after I return to UK. I am a Past Master (twice) and PPrGSwdB in Sunderland Lodge 4114 in the Province of Durham. under the United Grand Lodge of England. During the course of my military service in BAOR betwen 1959 and 1977 I lived in Wolfenbuttle,Detmold and Bergen-Hohne. I am impressed with your web-site which I found by accident, but I congratulate your webmaster for a job well done. Fraternal greetings and every best wish from Charles Russell.

May I wish all the brethren in BFG a happy and peaceful new year and may the GAOTU bless you all in 2004. As for me? lots of learning ready for the Installation on 28th January. It's all Beaver Lodges fault for this labour of love that is Freemasonry! Thank you for my early years and that magical initiation night back when the past masters left such an impression as to change me forever. Looking forward to it!

Dear Brethren, as the year comes to it's inevitable end, we should all reflect on what we can do better in 2004. As Freemasons we must also make sure that this includes making our lodges and Freemasonry better. Let's try to keep the meaning behind Freemasonry foremost in our minds. Let's have lots of hatchet burying. Let's get back to basics. I know I will.
Kind fraternal regards
